Our project aims to enhance YardOps, our Yard Management System (YMS), by integrating a driver communication module that uses SMS and mobile web technologies. This innovative addition will enable real-time communication between the yard and drivers, significantly improving operational efficiency and safety. Drivers will receive detailed instructions via SMS or mobile web after booking their arrival slot, ensuring smooth and efficient operations. They can also update the yard on their arrival times and receive push notifications or SMS alerts about their position in the queue and next steps. The module allows two-way communication, enabling drivers to report issues or request assistance without leaving their cab. This enhancement will make YardOps accessible to smaller manufacturing yards that do not have a manned gatehouse with self check-ins. By improving communication, efficiency, and safety, YardOps continues to set new standards in yard management.
