Projects
Development of prototype low-cost electrostatic precipitator voltage supplies based on efficient resonant conversion to reduce industrial emissions
1 May 2015 to 31 Mar 2017
Industrial air pollution in Europe costs up to 189 billion annually, of which 4 billion is directly attributed to suspended particulate matter (PM), stimulating mandatory air quality control measures. Electrostatic precipitation (ESP) is an effective method to charge and capture transient dust particles, using large electric fields produced by high voltag...
Protoype development of ship-board modular resonant power converter for ballast water management systems
1 Feb 2015 to 31 Jan 2017
Environmental damage to marine environments valued at $150bn globally arises from the inadvertent transfer of aquatic invasive species (AIS) in seawater ballast. In response to this, the International Convention for the Control and Management of Ships Ballast Water & Sediments, proposed by the International Maritime Organisation, is expected to be ratifie...
Frequent IntegRated Soft Stop Start Technology: FIRS3T
1 Jul 2014 to 31 Jul 2017
This project will demonstrate a novel cost effective compact diesel electric propulsion system initially for bus vehicle application that fits within the current space envelope of a diesel engine and, due to its wide application (as it is suitable for retrofit as well as new build), will deliver significant reductions in CO2 emissions compared to current ...
