A federated approach to data management, enabled by mobile technologies, would allow proactive personal engagement and collective responsibility, and help improve cost-effectiveness of healthcare services. In addition, gamification of medical applications have the potential to improve compliance and the formation of healthy habits. Intelligent data repositories and services will help not only integrate electronic health information, but also enable evidence-based 'collective' decision making amongst carers and clinical providers and unleash new knowledge and discoveries.
