Company description

GyreOx develops in vitro technology that enables macrocycle production to be achieved on multiple scales.

The Company is focussed on creating novel medicines addressing complex intra-cellular targets in a wide range of diseases. Its proprietary platform technology is based on a combination of chemistry and synthetic biology deploying a set of rationally engineered enzymes.

Project impact

Secured ca £1.1 M investment

GyreOx's proprietary discovery platform creates unique Gyrocycle™ highly modified macrocyclic peptides, which combine the target-engagement power of biologics with the cell-entry ability of small molecules.

We have created a chemoenzymatic technology for macrocycle generation. The technology consists of a set of flexible engineered enzymes which can carry out modification steps on a synthetic linear substrate to generate modified macrocycles.

There are two major classes of drugs: "small molecules", and, "biologics". Both have their limitations: small molecules do not address complex disease targets; whilst biologics are not able to get inside the human cell, and also have to be injected. Members of a new drug class, called "macrocycles", combine desirable properties of both these classes, in t...
