Lineat Composites develops fibre-based composite materials that aims to be more sustainable.
Lineat Composites is a small spin out (comprising 6 full time staff: CEO, CTO, Chief Engineer, Chair, Mechanical Technician, and Mechanical Engineer and a Scientific Advisory Board made up of Chief Scientist and Innovation Advisor, Chief Scientifc Advisor, and Scientific Advisor). Lineat is introducing a new aligned fibre material format with superior formability to simplify composite manufacturing. The HiPerDiF fibre alignment technology (a patented technology originally produced within the HiPerDuCT programme grant EPEP/I02946X/1) produces highly aligned discontinuous fibre tapes that exhibit mechanical performance comparable to continuous fibre composites and have a greatly improved formability to simplify existing manual and automated processes. This forms the basis of high-performance sustainable composites by allowing the use and re-use of reclaimed chopped fibres in technical composite parts, helping to reduce the carbon footprint of composite materials. The tapes can be used as a direct substitute for continuous fibre UD tapes in existing supply chains for various markets including sports, marine, automotive, and aerospace.
On 7th February 2022, Lineat was pleased to announce their partnership with the National Composite Centre, through their SME Affiliates membership scheme. Lineat will be based at the Emerson Green facility for the foreseeable future, enabling them to further develop their unique processes.

Lineat have produced a first to market highly aligned pre-preg tape, made out of recycled carbon fibre (rCF). Feedback across the market has been very good, but most interest lies in dry tape material, that can be pre-pregged later, or used in other applications like non-crimp fabrics (NCFs). The aim of this project is to develop the process of adding a l...
