The explosive growth of e-commerce has outpaced the development of the underlying infrastructure and delivery methods, which are not sustainable, expensive, inadequate to support the resulting parcel volumes and customer demands, and contribute to problems with congestion and air pollution.
Analogous to Hyperloop for parcels and small freight, Magway is a revolutionary e-commerce delivery and small freight logistics system. Combining our proprietary technology with existing tried and tested solutions, Magway delivers goods more reliably, with greater predictability, and at a significantly reduced operating cost, via a system that is inherently safer and more secure than road transport, independent of weather conditions, and which improves air quality and congestion by removing delivery vans from the roads.
Congestion costs London's economy alone over £9bn/year, and London's drivers 227 hours/year on average. It is also a major contributor to air pollution, which is the largest killer globally, causing 4.2m premature deaths/year. Public Health England estimates NOx and PM2.5 will result in 2.5m new cases of disease by 2030 nationally. The UK Supreme Court ordered the environment minister to take "immediate action" in 2015, and air pollution was recognised as a "public health emergency" by a cross-party committee of MPs in 2016. The UK has legally committed to zero emissions by 2050, and needs to implement measures to meet this target.
Magway will enable real action to mitigate congestion, air pollution and climate change, by removing traffic from the roads in favour of a fully electric solution with zero emissions that can be powered by renewable resources.

The UK road network carries 73% of all freight journeys, and the rapid changes in distribution of goods due to growth in online retailing places new strains on road transport infrastructure. Road congestion is a major concern, especially in urban environments, and emissions from motor vehicles are a major cause of air pollution. Moreover, the existing transport system is not sustainable, as road haulage is almost exclusively powered by fossil fuels, especially for larger vans and HGVs, where electric vehicles are not feasible due to the excessive mass and cost of the batteries that would be required.
We are creating a next-generation transport link for e-commerce and light freight, which will take traffic off the roads, easing congestion, and which produces zero emissions and can exploit renewable resources.
