NHC Technology Ltd was established in Denbigh since 1971 and employs a highly skilled
workforce of 71 staff at our purpose built manufacturing site. NHC manufactures a range of
products incorporating cycloidal vibration therapy (CVT), including beds, chairs,
physiotherapy products, equine and medical products to a range of markets from consumer to
NHS primarily in the UK under various brands. Our clinical research has shown that the noninvasive
application of cycloidal vibration increases soft tissue circulation and reduces pain
resulting in health benefits by relieving some of the symptoms of a range of clinical
conditions and in the NHS arena, aids wound healing. All products are registered medical
devices meeting European standards. The CVG’s used in our products are unique in design to
NHC technology and historically due to this they are an integral component in the structure of
the end product with the result the generators are large, costly and inflexible in design for
further product development. This currently determines and severely limits the aesthetics,
weight, cost and function of our product range. This project seeks to design and develop a
new, smaller and lower cost, cycloidal vibration module (CVM) plus the necessary power and
controls systems. It is envisaged that the ‘next generation’ CVM will be a smaller preassembled
unit that will give us greater design flexibility for integration into our existing
products. Also, this being a generic development, it will provide the basis to undertake the
development of a number of new products that cannot be effectively developed using the
current design of generator. The significant risk in the development of this generator is that it
has to produce the same cycloidal vibration waveform, frequency and displacement range as
our current products. Otherwise it will not have the same physiological and clinical effect
when applied and will not fall within the scope of our current clinical claims and research.
