Public Funding for Borgwarner Holdings Limited

The TSB-funded VERITAS project led by Caterpillar UK Engines Co. Ltd, in partnership with BorgWarner Ltd, Imperial College London and Loughborough University is developing solutions to realise powertrain-level CO2 savings. These solutions in the form of advanced diesel engine air system technologies and associated controls will be harnessed to provide improved transient engine response, and substantial energy recovery. Simulation tools will also be developed and applied as part of this programme to leverage the demonstrated technologies across the entire range of heavy-duty applications. It is anticipated that the broader application of these methods could result in the combined potential reduction of 10% of diesel CO2 emissions and yield an overall UK CO2 reduction of up to 1.2 million tonnes annually.
