Tens of thousands of UK heat networks are operating inefficiently. Our project is to research, develop and user test a solution that engages, empowers and energises heat network owners and operators to make vital efficiency improvements. Our solution combines the visualisation of network component performance with the gamification of peer-to-peer benchmarking to drive behaviour change to improve system efficiency. This solution becomes ‘game changing’ when it is so cheap, simple to install, easy to use, intuitive and rewarding that it becomes a ubiquitous high volume solution and ‘the norm’. A solution that is so compelling that it becomes disruptive when users en-masse stop the way they do things now and switch to it, and in doing so form a whole new community of users getting value from the power of their combined data insight.

Feasibility Studies
This project is to create a blue water footprint database for manufactured materials. The database will give detailed data on the amount of blue water consumed to manufacture materials. This can be used by companies to measure and manage the amount of blue water consumed within their entire supply chains and to understand where the operational risk of water scarcity is. Large corporations are starting to understand that water in their supply chain is an organisational risk but they lack the data, tools and expertise to measure, monitor and manage their water footprints for manufactured materials. This project will offer the detailed data to facilitate such assessments and can be used by designers, manufacturers and procurement to map water issues and to facilitate global water reduction and efficiency gains.
