To embed the capability to design and manufacture a range of fractional horsepower electric motors to power a future range of power tools for the UK and other international markets.

Evolution Power Tools is a well -established company that has become a recognised leader in providing a whole range of multi-purpose saws to the UK market. The company's commitment to continue to develop its product range is further confirmed and demonstrated with this project, the development of a pre-production prototype mitre saw. The project will ensure several key technologies will be developed and optimised to offer user benefits that have not been available in any previous product or from any manufacturer. Evolution have devised a means to offer these radical new user benefits and by employing different enabling technologies will avoid patent infringement and costly licencing fees associated with other manufacturer's technologies. The company will develop proof-of-principal prototypes to validate the enabling technology for the advanced user benefits, and also develop similar prototypes for the IP circumvention technologies. These prototypes will contribute towards a full machine prototype that simulates the appearance, function and materials of the final pre-production prototype. This will enable testing and refinement for compliance to different regulatory standards for global markets. There are four particular aspect that will be addressed:- product size, cutting capacity, dust management and enhanced accuracy. The project objective is to achieve all these technological enhancements and make them available to the value-focused customer.
