PowerAll Route to Growth

PowerAll 2020 Vision
PowerAll Ltd was formed in 1979 when it began as a specialist manufacturer of electronic control solutions for a wide range of applications, covering for example, mobile canteens, mobile repairs and emergency vehicles, developing over the years into a modern, innovative business achieving circa £1m sales p.a.
The need for alternative sources of power in vehicles resulted in PowerAll successfully developing innovative solution, such as the 'Swap-Out' Alternator that is capable of providing multiple electrical power outputs, dependent upon customer requirements.
The development project being considered is to design and develop to prototype stage an entirely new generic, core control system on which all future product developments can be based. Through the integration of sophisticated electronics design and interfacing, multiple voltage outputs can be generated, suitable for a wide range of equipment such as welders, coffee machines, winches etc. Such a development will be highly innovative and when completed will have global market potential, significantly impacting on PowerAll's performance with the consequential benefits to the national economy.
In order to capitalise on this opportunity we need to design, develop and test a series of prototypes. We need to secure robust international IP protection. We need to identify suitable suppliers of reliable components. We need to establish effective manufacturing protocols and quality control, including incorporation into our ISO9001-2008 quality processes. We also need to invest in international branding, marketing, and technical support materials. This will involve several people within the business as well as external resources.
A successful development will maintain and enhance PowerAll's strong competitive position and ensure the ongoing viability of the business, thereby not only protecting the current, highly skilled staff but creating further employment opportunities in an area suffering from higher than the national average unemployment, particularly amongst the under 25's.
PowerAll Swap-Out Alternator
PowerAll Ltd was formed in 1979 when it began as a specialist manufacturer of electronic control solutions for a wide range of applications, developing over the years into a modern, innovative business achieving circa £1m sales p.a. This project is based on the need for alternative sources of power in vehicles fitted with a wide range of applications - for example, mobile canteens, mobile repairs, emergency vehicles. Currently, the alternative electrical source is provided by a generator then linked to specific equipment, i.e. compressors, welding and power tools. To address this PowerAll have been testing the technical feasibility of installing a second alternator into the host vehicle with some success. However, due to serious space limitations in engine bays due to design requirements and additional equipment i.e. air conditioning, the number of vehicles suitable for such a solution is seriously limited. The answer is to design and develop a generic 'Swap-Out' Alternator that can replace the originally installed alternator. The Swap-Out will be capable of providing multiple electrical power outputs, dependent upon the customer requirements and cover the majority of major manufacturers commercial vehicle fleets. Such a development will be highly innovative and when completed will have global market potential, significantly impacting on PowerAll's performance with the consequential benefits to the national economy.
PowerAll Sine Wave Power System
GRD Development of Prototype
PowerAll Limited can trace its history back to 1979 when it began as a specialist
manufacturer of electronic control solutions for a wide range of applications, developing over
the years into a modern, innovative business achieving almost £1m sales p.a. Located in
York, PowerAll has an ISO9001-2008 accredited design & manufacturing facility and based
on its experience in the design, development and manufacture of vehicle engine driven
generators, AC and On Board power systems, PowerAll have identified a requirement for the
development and provision of a 230v system with sine wave output for use in the marine and
leisure markets.
Whilst PowerAll manufacture 230v power systems, they have a square wave output. This has
previously been acceptable for commercial applications where tools are powered, but
domestic products such has washing machines & microwave ovens are designed to operate on
a sine wave output as derived from the mains supply. This has prevented us penetrating the
leisure & marine markets. Equally in commercial use, the adoption of more sophisticated
control systems on tools and welding plant have led to compatibility problems with our wave
form in an increasing number of cases & leading to loss of sales.
The products currently in use in this market sector are battery powered inverters & silenced
generators. Both have significant disadvantages in terms of cost, weight, space provision,
maintenance, noise & surety of the power supply.
The PowerAll system will be a ‘World First’, addressing the above issues, by producing a
system that offers gains in terms of surety of supply & at a cost of ownership that is a
significant improvement over the current alternatives. The new system will enable PowerAll
to diversify into a market with huge potential & generate significant sales, both in the UK and
export. The project will safeguard the future of the company & will support the UK economy
at all levels, providing additional valuable employment & revenue.
PowerAll Electrically Powered Pre Heater
GRD Development of Prototype
PowerAll Limited can trace its history back to 1979 when it began as a specialist
manufacturer of electronic control solutions for a wide range of applications, developing over
the years into a modern, innovative business achieving almost £1m sales p.a. Located in
York, PowerAll has an ISO9001-2008 accredited design & manufacturing facility and based
on its experience in the design, development and manufacture of vehicle engine driven
generators, AC and On Board power systems, PowerAll have identified a requirement for the development and provision of an electrically powered pre heater for weld repairs on rail
tracks.
Currently, maintenance crews rely on the use of propane gas fuelled burners being placed on the rail and the rail being heated to a high temperature. There are a number of serious issues with this method concerning health and safety, lighting burners and the control of rail temperatures. Inattention can cause over heating of the rail which is undesirable and can affect its performance characteristics. There are also issues concerning the manual handling of heavy gas bottles that have to be lifted from a van and moved to a rail bogey and gas wastage as running out of gas on a job would be disastrous so bottles are often returned for exchange with gas still in them, increasing costs.
The PowerAll system will be a ‘World First’, addressing the above issues, providing a far
more flexible, easily handled system that achieves environmental, energy and economic
benefits for the operator, considerable safety gains for the users and at a cost of ownership
that is a significant improvement over the current alternatives. The new system will enable
PowerAll to diversify into a market with huge potential and generate significant sales, both in the UK and export. The project will safeguard the future of the company and will support the UK economy at all levels, providing additional valuable employment and revenue.
