UAVaid has developed a platform for solving logistics problems of humanitarian development (healthcare access) and disaster response, in remote and difficult to reach areas of the underdeveloped world. The solution is based on next generation UAV (Unmanned Aerial Vehicle) ‘drone’ technology, and encompasses innovative industrial design and customised commercial offers. Unique multi-role capabilities allow the system to provide a long range remote delivery capability, aerial surveillance and 2D/3D mapping. Combined, these capabilities will help to address the limitations of existing acute-onset disaster response systems/solutions, and poor logistics capability, in remote and difficult-to-reach areas of the underdeveloped world and reduce the impact of poor healthcare access and time-critical humanitarian assistance. This project will help to provide a world class evidence base on the effectiveness of such systems to transform 10’s millions lives, and positon UK industry at the forfront of this new and emerging sector.
