Our project aim is to develop a mobile 20T (gross weight in tonnes) jaw crusher suitable for producing graded aggregate from quarry stone and demolition waste with performance equivalent to a 35T crusher. The proposed crusher will have the following benefits: • Crushing capacity of between 150 and 250T per hour (depending on aggregate size) which is equivalent to an existing 35T machine • Fully integrated pre-screening and post-screening system enabling crushed material to be fully screened at the end of the process into various products such as dust, 25mm clean or 50mm clean • Compact size – fits into a standard shipping container and does not require an escort for road transport • 25% reduction in fuel consumption when compared to an existing 35T crusher • Fully mobile for positioning in site without the need for other transport and lifting gear • Low cost (up to 50% cheaper when shipping is included) when compared to existing 35T crushers To deliver the benefits the following enabling innovations have been identified: • Crusher box – unique design that provides high strength and rigidity at a lower weight and cost • Pressure boost – our unique manifold system allowing us to run our system with a lower power fuel efficient engine Global demand for construction aggregates is expected to rise nearly four per cent annually through 2012 to over 26 billion tonnes. This demand will be met by increased production from quarries directly influencing the demand for crusher machinery. The total current global crusher sales figure is £997m and the average crusher sale price is £200k. With our proposed innovations and crusher benefits we predict a 1.5% market penetration within 5 years of project completion resulting in a £10m increase in turnover for our company. 80% of the manufacturing costs will be incurred within a UK supply chain and at least 95% of the 20T crushers will be exported.
