M I Products are planning to develop a patented system that will allow easier access to and use of dwellings. The aim is to design, develop and manufacture a modern, ergonomic and efficient design that satisfies the requirements of manufacturers, installers and end-users. The system will combine a uniquely designed straight cut patio sill, eliminating the need for routing, slotting or milling, and be enhanced with a centrally activated interlock locking mechanism which will satisfy the requirements of the “Secure by Design” accredited security certification. This innovative product will exceed the industry requirements for a secure, user friendly and cost effective access that will conform to the Part M building regulations and BS6375:2009 / PASS24 standards. The system will be adaptable to most frames and door materials. With a thermally broken sill, it will meet the thermal bridging / insulation requirements also. The sill will be complimented with an auxiliary ramp. The new system will offer significant improvements over existing products not only in terms of performance, aesthetic, simple installation and ease of use but in manageable easily accessible security that would combine to make the whole patio a patio for life. At this stage, the main priorities are to test the market, focus on the initial design, review the intellectual property position and start with business modelling and planning process.
