Digital dermatitis is an infectious cause of lameness in cattle. It is painful, reducing production and cow welfare. It is associated with dirty feet but cleaning them is difficult on commercial farms. A prototype system that directs precision jets of water at the target area of the rear foot to clean them will be evaluated and further developed with the aim of reducing the need for conventional antibiotic or heavy metal treatments and improve the cows health and welfare.
