We are an environmental consultancy specialising in planning, permitting, training & research to the recycling industry with customers all over the UK. There is insufficient capacity in UK for recycling plastics and tyres, which leads to disposal of plastics in landfill and fly tipping of tyres. Oaktree aims to set up an R&D facility to specialise in research to derive fuel (oil & gas) and raw materials (carbon black & steel) from the treatment & pyrolysis of plastics & waste tyres. Large scale tyre pyrolysis projects are difficult to finance due to high investment cost, perceived risk & reliance on high daily throughput of a single waste stream to be financially viable. Our idea will enable use of the same plant for mixed ‘dirty’ plastics as well as tyres. These ‘dirty’ plastics are left over from municipal waste plastics and are disposed to landfill at >£100/te or processed into Refuse Derived Fuel for energy generation outside UK. We have identified a process plant that would be suitable once we have made technical modifications & improvements to meet UK & EU environmental legislation.
