Oxford Nanopore has brought to market the world's only portable DNA/RNA sequencer, the MinION, and subsequently a range of additional devices that offer real-time, direct, long-read sequencing at large or small scale. Our goal is to enable the analysis of any living thing, by any person, in any environment. Nanopore sequencing is driving new discoveries in biological science in more than 70 countries, whether that is gaining insights in human, plant, microbial or environmental genomics. The products are also uniquely positioned to deliver rapid insights at the point of care/interest in a range of applied markets including healthcare, agriculture and food/water surveillance. Oxford Nanopore is now building manufacturing capacity to serve the expanding use of its technology in biological research and to prepare for new 'applied market' uses such as healthcare, agriculture or food/water surveillance. The major new production facility at Harwell will scale manufacture by creating high-specification infrastructure & automation technologies (the basis of the funding request).
