GRD Proof of Concept
Galleries, Libraries, Archives and Museums (GLAM) are owners, carers and managers of a wealth of content. The Dozens & Trails suite of cross platform digital applications will help these organisations to make content more accessible, interactive and engaging to their users, keeping the GLAM sector current and enticing to an ever-growing digitally savvy population. With an expectation from consumers to be able to access content online 24/7, GLAM organisations are looking increasingly to open up content and collections across web and mobile. In addition, organisations are now keen to secure a commercial return to support ongoing digital maintenance and development. The application suite will link the user experience over cross platforms, including mobile, desktop, touch-screen and large format displays and will create a seamless journey for users navigating the application. Users will be encouraged to personalise their experience, creating their own favourite sets of content. The application suite will also include trails, mapping GLAM content to specific locations within the organisations' city. Creating a gateway from the venue to the wider city will extend peoples’ experience as well as drawing users from the city into the cultural building. For the GLAM organisation, this application suite can help inform on content usage, measuring and tracking the most popular content as well as learning from how users approach the personalisation aspect. This will help provide greater insight in to GLAM sector audiences as well as inform future curation and content programming decisions. The business model proposed is a first for the GLAM sector, shifting from a need for a supplier relationship with digital agencies and focusing on the development of a partnership to enable digital innovation and revenue return.
