This project will develop services to allow products to be viewed with confidence on a computer in the actual lighting conditions of the area in which they are to be installed. The system will enhance customer confidence and significantly reduce wasted time and effort in deciding on the right choice of product for a particular environment. Novel computer software will exploit recent advances in physically based computer graphics rendering and High Dynamic Range (HDR) imaging. This combination of technologies will enable real-world lighting to be accurately captured, transferred to a computer and used to relight virtual images in a highly realistic manner.
