This project seeks to build confidence in children through the development of two interactive electronic pads that focus on new areas of Islamic faith learning. **1\. "My First Arabic Alphabet pad"** This light and sound keyboard will teach the Arabic Alphabet, vowels and short words with it's sensory, pressable light up buttons and small LCD screen. This kind of interactive electronic toy does not exist for the Arabic Language. Learning Arabic is essential for children to read the Quran. Additional functions include : 13 lessons to introduce each vowel, summary lessons, short words and quiz, giving positive affirmations when questions are answered correctly. **2\. My first Quran Learning pad:** This light and sound pad will allow children to press, listen and learn short verses from the Quran. This light up pad will have a child's voice reading the verses, so that they can relate to it and encourage them to learn. Learning and memorising short verses from the Quran is essential part of early years Islamic education. Our innovative electronic pad will help make this learning fun, joyful and interactive. One of the key functions of My First Quran pad is that it will allow children to hear one line at a time so that it will help them to learn and memorise and will also allow children to adjust the speed of the recitation, so that they can learn at a pace that will suit their learning. The DesiDollCompany was founded in 2008 by Farzana Rahman, a mother of three. Farzana was searching for fun and engaging toys for her children that celebrated the Islamic faith. Not finding anything, Farzana designed 2 interactive dolls that talk and sing educating children through play. The dolls were an instant hit, selling 4,000 dolls in year 1\. Today, the company has 50 unique, Islamic-educational toys and have sold 1 million toys worldwide. The ethos of The Desi Doll Company is to create faith based toys that promote religion in a positive light. There is a pressing societal challenge of Islamophobia. This year there were 8,730 religious hate crimes reported to the police ([Statista][0], 2022). And, 45% of religious hate crimes against Muslims, the highest of all religions reported ([gov.uk][1] 2021). Currently there is a lack of diverse toys representing faith, amongst UK retailers and the DesiDollCompany addresses this issue through an innovative and inclusive range of toys.
