1. The Patented ZipZag challenges 100 years of zip design & production methods with novel manufacturing processes, modified materials & fundamentally different tooth geometry. Collectively these create a new business opportunity by enabling zip curvature in the x and y plane for the first time; additionally the invention allows aesthetic design features to be incorporated into the tooth construction. We have produced physically fragile prototypes which prove functionality: our mission now is to verify the manufacturing processes & product performance using trial tooling & process evaluations. The zip industry is mature, saturated, risk-averse & dominated by two large corporates, trailed by a handful of small specialists & 1000+ low-cost Chinese imitators. Our vision is to use ZipZag’s functionality & aesthetics to transform the industry from commodity-based to design-led by stimulating the generation of entirely new final product categories & market applications founded on curved & patterned zips + adding value via an innovative bespoke-service business model.
