Hybrid electric cars are becoming increasingly popular. However, all developments in this field remain focussed on internal combustion reciprocating engines or fuel cells for on-board electrical power generation. Turbines can run on a range of fuels from CNG (including shale gas), LPG, alcohol, Kerosene, recycled oil, vegetable oil, all of which reduce dependency on diesel & petroleum. Turbines achieve lower emissions & higher electrical efficiency than reciprocating engines; are compact and lightweight with few moving parts & have low maintenance costs.
We need an independent expert to perform a technical and economic feasibility study of our concept, before we undertake more extensive research and development. The expert must have knowledge of high performance composites & metals and their net shape forming processes. Ideally they will have expertise in turbine/turbocharger design. They must also have expertise in appraising energy efficiency in complex systems.
Development of this concept would enable us to exploit it directly in the design & development of turbine based hybrid drive systems. We would generate new IP that would enable us to license the high volume manufacture of our compact micro-turbine to a supplier in the UK. Later, it may be possible to license manufacturers in other regions. There is huge potential for export of turbines and hybrid drive systems to generate export revenue for JPS and for UK plc.
