The Hydroconomy concept is based on principles of sustainable urban farming, healthy eating, and collaborative consumption. Our aim is to optimise a water-based food growing system that can be attached to and/or integrated into any type of wall, creating a compact, intuitive, and portable urban farm that produces high yields in sites where space is limited. Focusing on urban environments and areas where access to land or growing space is difficult Hydroconomy began as a means of empowering Londoners to grow food despite growing challenges of water and space scarcity. We now plan to evolve the prototype to serve a much wider market and to create a model that is quick to build and install/integrate and contributes to sustainable living through innovative and efficient technologies.
