Gleanin POC project
Organisers of large events and exhibitions are finding that their main marketing channel -
email marketing - is less effective. We aim to build on numerous studies that have shown that
personalised emails can improve engagement levels. While previously event organisers have
used demographics to segment messaging, it is effectively still broadcast messaging. We aim
to create a new and more effective marketing strategy for organisers of large events and
exhibitions by letting them personalise marketing messages, at scale, in an automated fashion.
By augmenting the existing CRM databases of event organisers with social data from Twitter
we can make communications and marketing highly targeted and much more relevant to the
recipient, and increase the likelihood of the recipient registering for the event.
At GleanIn, we are developing a fundamentally better way for people to register for events,
that doesn’t compromise on the data organisers need, but improves the attendee conversion
figure. Over the last 2.5 years, we have been researching and trialling new approaches,
working with some of the largest event organisers in the world.
In this Proof of Concept grant we are focused on exhibitions, where we have extensive prior
experience and already have 2 launched products servicing 40 exhibition clients. However, we
think that this technology and its commercial application would be appealing to businesses in
any sector that have a large CRM database of people that they communicate with or want to
communicate with.
