Plait is a web-based application to provide clear, accurate and constantly-updated information
to care providers from social services, when referring a client. The current systems in use by
British local authority social services departments suffer from being non-standardised and
fragmented, biased towards paper and fax technologies and prone to great inaccuracy,
especially in terms of critical updates of information that are vital to assuring an optimum
decision on care between the social services and care providers.
With local government and other budgets suffering from major cuts, Plait is intended to be a
technology that can save on masses of duplication and inefficiency, thus reducing costs.
Plait can be run on desktops, laptops and is designed with tablets and 'phablets' (larger
smartphones, such as the Samsung Note) in mind.
The project with be run by successful IT entrepreneur Mark Chapman of ReallyCare, formerly
of StaffCare, with support in Focus Group Management from Merseyside-based IT firm
Digital Creativity in Disability.
