GRD Development of Prototype
In the highly competitive world of retail, loyalty programmes & couponing are central to effective customer engagement strategies and in a market where brand loyalty is challenged, coupons are recognised as ‘the promotional tool of choice’. However, current methods for coupon delivery are ineffective due to a continued reliance on antiquated paper based systems, with paper coupons still representing more than 95% of all coupons redeemed. Furthermore, despite more than $7 bn spent globally on the printing & distribution of coupons, redemptions levels of only 1-2% are typically achieved with lengthy lead times. With retailers & brands continuously looking for ways to remain competitive and to better engage with their customer base, finding effective ways of moving away from paper based coupons is a common goal of the Retail sector Driven by this market need and through the exploitation of new emerging long-range RFID technology embedded into a loyalty card (a first for the Retail sector), Reward Technology (RT) aim to develop & deploy a unique digital platform that can deliver personalised, targeted offers at the point of entry at retail stores to any mobile device. Upon entry & through a fully integrated cloud based platform that immediately checks a customer’s purchase history; the system sends a targeted text to the customer’s mobile of in store offers & coupons that are of specific relevance to them This fully inclusive, automated process requires no technical knowhow with no change in consumer behaviour nor the need for enablers (as found with other with forms of mobile coupons) with redemption simply through the loyalty card at the till. Given its highly targeted location based message, redemption levels of >25% are predicted, increasing sales up circa 3- 8% and allowing retailers to deliver real time discounts with full control & visibility of campaigns further addressing wider key challenges such as food waste disposal.
