To develop micro structured ceramic substrates for emission control
Microtech Ceramics develops ceramic substrates for catalytic converters, which converts toxic emissions into less toxic gases.
Current catalytic convertor substrate technology is over 40 years old and has reached the limit of its technical development. The advanced solution developed represents a step change, as the new catalytic contains 30,000 m2/m3 geometric surface area (GSA) and will enable 30% reduction in catalyst utilisation, cost reduction of 20% for a convertor unit, increased engine performance leading to 2-3% reduction in CO2, improved emission control, and an 80% reduction in package size. In early 2018, Microtech Ceramics received further US$1.8m investment from Kero (http://www.globaluniversityventuring.com/article.php/6685/microtech-ceramics-forms-1.8m-round?tag_id=526) for recruiting technical personnel and scaling up manufacturing facilities for commercial productions.
