PulsIV has developed an innovative process that allows an increase in the energy extracted from photovoltaic modules by extracting energy that is currently lost through heating effects. The Pulsiv energy extraction method is an alternative to the more established Maximum Power Point Trackering (MPPT) devices, which is the defacto standard of energy extraction used with solar inverters. This new method has demonstrated an increase in the amount of energy converted into electricity by up to 30% against a leading commercial inverter, and is shown to deliver more energy to the grid than regular solar inverters using MPPT. The process has been proved ‘semi-automatically’ with the aim of the project being to automate the control process and demonstrate its unique advantages.
