Company description

Computer simulations are increasing in their usage in understanding the effects of various drugs on their targets. However, there is a perceived barrier to their acceptance as often computer simulations are seen as "black-boxes" and are not well understood, and hence trusted, by users: simulations are simply not transparent enough. In response to this, SimOmics has developed a series of tools to support the development, and deployment, of computer-based simulations for preclinical and clinical trials used in the drug discovery process that are transparent and allow you to follow the rationale for the simulation design from wet lab data to in silico results. Our expertise in the response of the immune system to drug intervention and effects on the host, and we have a wealth of expertise in the development of computer simulations of the immune system. Our tools help inform decisions on trial design and predict long-term effects of interventions. SimOmic's tools, when combined with our bespoke computer simulation development service, allows you to eliminate needless and costly trials and to focus on those with the greatest likelihood of success, thus saving time and money. Our integrated toolset provides support for total transparency of the decision making process, so you can make better informed decisions. Our software and service can help you: Increase potential for stratified patients Understanding of short and long term effects of drug regimes Reduce time and costs with "fit for purpose" modelling Provide an integrative solution

Projects

2020 Collaborative R&D Lead participant

Manufacturing Effluent Risk Modelling & Assessment System (MERMAS)

1 Nov 2020 to 30 Apr 2021

Awarded
£99,824
Total cost £99,824

This project will develop a cloud based risk modelling application to formalise, streamline and more accurately and transparently calculate environmental and antimicrobial resistance risks associated with discharging pharmaceutical manufacturing effluent into water catchments. The mass production and consumption of pharmaceuticals has resulted in active p...

2017 Feasibility Studies Lead participant

Evidence Tool for In-silico Models in the Health and Life Sciences

1 Sep 2017 to 31 Aug 2018

Awarded
£48,318
Total cost £69,026

Computer models are useful tools for generating predictions that help understand a real world system, for example in determining how effective a potential new drug treatment could be before trial in laboratory or human studies. Building a computer model of a real system that we don't yet completely understand leads developers to make decisions and simplif...

2016 Collaborative R&D Lead participant

Virtual Fish Ecotoxicology Laboratory

1 Mar 2016 to 28 Feb 2019

Awarded
£295,912
Total cost £493,187

All new active pharmaceutical ingredients must undergo an environmental risk assessment (ERA) before being authorised. Currently tens of thousands of fish are used worldwide as part of API ERAs. Development of predictive in silico models has the potential to significantly reduce animal use (3Rs) and reduce R&D costs around the ERA of pharmaceuticals. Thes...
