Hue is a stark puzzle platformer where you shift the hue of the world, creating rifts when colours collide. The core game mechanic involves switching through a set of colours to change the background colour of the environment in order to make objects appear and disappear. This makes for a series of unique and challenging puzzles, never seen before in a video game. With simple pick up and play controls the player can easily get into the game and progress through each world, excited by the innovative game play and filled with many signature “a-ha” moments. Met with a great soundtrack, a stand out illustrative art style, a warm-welcoming narrator, colourful environments, intriguing characters and accessibility integrated from the beginning, Hue sets itself apart from other video games on the market. Right from the very start of development we’re looking to create the game with accessibility in mind, so that people with certain disabilities can enjoy the game. Having an accessibility expert onboard will enable us to meet this criteria at a high standard and ensure that we are integrating the features correctly. The majority of games companies seek to make their products more accessible to groups of people that might not necessarily play games in the first place, such as grandparents or young girls. However, there is a market comprised of disabled people who desperately want to play mainstream games that is largely going unnoticed. By tapping into this market we can reap the rewards of both public acknowledgement that we’re making our games more accessible and the financial boost from extra sales.
