Our Biopipe system was developed in 2015 to solve a reoccurring issue with biofilm formation and blockages in the Supermarket refrigeration drainage system. The Biofilms would form and block the drainage causing water leaks, health and safety problems, destruction of significant components and downtime of vital equipment. The system combines ABS (and other polymers) with Zinc Citrate to create a smoother hydrophobic surface preventing bacteria and biofilms from attaching to the surface and reducing proliferation. Our technology is safe and non-toxic, it does not leach or migrate from the plastic and lasts the life of the product. Biofilms, algae and mould growth can affect and disrupt many more industries such as the Water networks before treatment works, wastewater networks, fish and shelf fish farming, and marine industries. By conducting a straightforward trial with algae and biofilm growth, we have seen encouraging signs that BioPipe and Technology have further placement outside the supermarket retail industry. The next stage of development is to take the product and the technology further and unlock other markets in the Water, Fish Farming and Marine Industries.
