The project will be to produce an animated 90-second TV series teaser complete with immersive music demo to generate an inspiring experience which will be used as a proof of concept to present to partners for the wider Soul Jump initiative.
Our project is to create and build a children's entertainment brand through animation and music which will improve the mental health and welfare of young people, using immersive technologies from the worlds of audio, AV, and AI.
Music can provide a powerful and profound way in which children can express themselves and connect with the world around them, and through Soul Jump, we have found a gap in the market to support this.
The animated Soul Jump band is formed of a diverse group of different personality types, fusing multiple cultures and musical genres to pave the way for inclusivity and togetherness and introduce young people to positive music at the age where mental health is at its most fragile. The Mental Health of Children and Young People in England 2023 report by NHS England found that 20.3% of eight to 16-year-olds had a probable mental disorder in 2023, so this is a huge national issue.
Creativity is also proven to boost mental health. Within the Soul Jump cartoon series, we would be inspired by the band's songwriting, music making and creative problem solving. In addition to this, kids and teens would be inspired further via games and apps to craft their own songs, music videos, animations and art. The overall goal is to empower them to channel their own creativity in audio-visual outlets for their wellbeing and to interact within the Soul Jump superfan community.
A recent Forbes Article says that creativity "Increases happiness, reduces dementia, improves mental health, boosts your immune system, and makes you smarter". Studies show that people who play instruments have better connectivity between their left and right brains: the left brain is responsible for the motor functions; the right brain focuses on melody. When the two hemispheres of your brain communicate with each other, your cognitive function improves.
