Our project looks into turning micro-grids in Africa into as many simplified, secure and transparent marketplaces where local micropreneurs and consumers can interact directly. The first objective is to give to micropreneurs visibility on when they should or when they should not run their kerosene or diesel generators and to provide them with a platform that will incentivize them to gradually step up their PV generation. The second objective is to incentivize local populations to optimize the timing of their consumption and to give them the means to turn into micropreneurs themselves (with the support of micro-finance institutions). Overall, the project will reduce the cost of electricity for local populations, reduce emissions and improve the security of electricity supply in the targeted regions.
