LIVR, the fully integrated XR Platform, is seeking funding to build partnerships with local media content creators, such as festival operators and film companies, and to understand how rural audiences want to consume streaming XR media (cross reality, which is a catchall term for virtual reality, augmented reality, and mixed reality) by collaborating and co-developing different models with users and content creators alike.
LIVR wants to introduce its XR service to India to ensure local artists, as well as UK artists, content can be consumed by the growing rural market, which makes up over 65% of India as a whole. Low bandwidth and mobile-only access to the internet have left many in rural India with fewer low-quality options for content consumption. Additionally, there has been little awareness of the XR content and its benefits such as accessing live events and performances without leaving your home, which during the global pandemic would have given access to millions. The LIVR content delivery system works for mobile as well as for other VR/AR headsets meaning that for a rural Indian market this is a perfect, ready-built solution to a real need.
While LIVR's streaming platform is easily adaptable to the rural Indian market it requires some investigation to understand cultural, socio-economic, and technology challenges that need to be understood to ensure LIVR's entry into this market would be successful and meet the needs of the users.
LIVR would like to undertake research into how the LIVR platform can be brought into the rural Indian market. This will include
* Initiating meetings with a range of content creators in India to develop relationships and potential partners for the next phase of the pilot
* Undertaking a three-phased user-centered approach for the co-development and consultation with rural Indian content creators and potential local users which includes:
* A learning phase (insight development into understanding further defining the problems faced by content creators and users of content and ideating solutions collaboratively)
* Co-development phase (development of those ideated solutions to develop prototypes with the content creators and users)
* Consultation phase (Testing these prototypes with users and refining the solutions based on feedback)
* Testing different technological solutions from the LIVR platform to develop a range of solutions for the different needs of users.
The objective of the project is that LIVR will have established key attributes for providing an XR streaming media service for rural India using local and international content.
