Ocean Bottle (OB) manufactures reusable bottles made from ocean-bound, recyclable BPA-free plastic. The bottles are insulated for hot and cold drinks and feature a dual opening to ease bottle cleaning and beverage filling. For each bottle purchased, OB funds the collection of 11.4kg of plastic, equivalent to \>1,000 plastic bottles, in coastal communities in Asia, South America, North Africa and the Caribbean badly affected by plastic pollution. Our vision for this project is to design and test the first ever customer loyalty platform that incentives refills using guaranteed plastic collection. Every-time our bottle is used in place of a disposable bottle or coffee cup, the participating retailer will donate a specified sum to plastic collection initiatives. Bottles will be scanned using embedded NFC at point-of-sale to track collections and refill behaviours.
