Building the music spaces of tomorrow. Forward facing new music festival Simple Things Festival will partner with innovative creative technology studio Good Measure to create a first of its kind real-time interactive 3D venue for live streaming photorealistic holograms of musicians.
While the past 18 months have seen a rise in performances within virtual worlds, these initial attempts are not in real-time and aren't conducive to commercial or creative sustainability. These are one-off blockbusters which showcase only the world's biggest stars and have not developed an understanding of how the 3D environment itself affects audience behaviour.
We will build our own real-time interactive 3D venue which gives audiences compelling experiences regardless of the size of the artists performing. Like creating a great venue in the real-world, sound, lights and aesthetic are as important as the performers. Simple Things Festival will then be able to produce events throughout the year to audiences all over the world, opening up a new and innovative revenue stream for the business.
This venue will also be built with a modular template and framework which will mean we are able to re-skin and build them for further customers and white label projects. This templating and framework will provide a better understanding of audiences' responses-to and interactions-with 3D experiences. From this feasibility study we can get a clearer picture of commercial viability for this real-time interactive 3D venue. This information will be the first of its kind.
We will be using these tools and learnings to create a ticketed trial event inside our 3D venue to test the services feasibility. This will be hosted in Autumn 2023 as part of Bristol music festival Simple Things.
All project partners have the potential to be at the forefront of defining the next iteration of the web that will be built around immersive 3D experiences.
