Imagine scrolling on your phone to find opportunities to give help. Just like Deliveroo, but instead of ordering a take-away you're selecting from opportunities to help an elderly person pick up their shopping, provide a befriending call or run a small errand for someone who is housebound. Imagine the opportunities are based on your exact postcode, so things show up close-by or are able to be done remotely. Imagine that it's all on-demand, so you can scroll those opportunities, select one right now and instantly be able to go and do it. onHand is an early stage corporate volunteering platform, with 100+ corporate partners and over 20,000 app users. Those users delivered over 30,000 good deeds across the UK in 2021\. The above opening description is what we have built to date, but there is so much more we can do. Today, onHand matches vetted volunteers with older adults and vulnerable people who need help with simple tasks such as shopping, medicine collection/drop offs, urgent errands and other essentials. Things we all struggle with as we age - from taking the bins out to simply changing a light bulb. Collectively these tasks restrict us living independently as we age. We have been able to tap into demand to help from the under-served corporate volunteer market. This enables us to help address one of society's most pressing issues at a fraction of the cost of today's solutions and when NHS resources are most strained. onHand's volunteer matching platform has established itself as a disruptor, using tech to simplify the way volunteers and older adults connect. The response to our platform has been applauded by various industry experts such as the National Innovation Centre for Ageing and with multiple award wins including the Lord Mayor's Dragon Awards for Best Covid Response and Best Volunteering App at the Care Awards. Our concept has been tested and proven in London by thousands of users and in last 18 months we have began pilots in further cities, with Independent Age (the UK's second largest age charity), NHS teams, the Red Cross and others referring elderly adults to us for help across the country. Grant funding would allow us to invest in our technology, ensure impact delivery across the UK and apply project learnings to reach market readiness.

Imagine scrolling on your phone to find opportunities to give help. Just like Deliveroo, but instead of ordering a take-away you're selecting from opportunities to help an elderly person pick up their shopping, provide a youth-mentoring session or drop off surplus food from your cupboard to a local food bank. Our vision for this project is to: (1) Extend our platform to cover Environmental impact action, with climate-positive lifestyle pledges and instant CO2e reduction tracking; and (2) Continue building our early stage technology for delivering Social good, broadening our service across the issues that matter most. Our aim is to become the market leading all-in-one tool to engage employees in Environmental & Social impact. onHand's app is bringing social and environmental action into the 21st century. As well as being mobile-first, on-demand and based on your location, we will track impact automatically - from the hour you spent donating food at a local food bank to the CO2e reductions you've made by taking climate-positive lifestyle pledges. Those pledges will include things like eating less meat, ditching the car for public transport, washing your clothes at lower temperatures and many more. All the things we know we should do and all have the potential for mass collective impact. Our work in 2021 indicates that our target market - corporates, who use onHand to engage their employees - have a need for the service and limited options that work today. Those corporates are under increasing consumer and employee pressure to do more good, which our tech enables. In 2021, 100+ corporates joined onHand and our tests adding Environmental action to the service beat all targets. Through this project onHand has the opportunity to develop a market leading service for the UK and beyond, with tremendous Environmental & Social impact and one which is set for rapid commercialisation.

onHand is an award winning volunteer matching solution, featured by the Evening Standard, The Telegraph, Metro, BBC Radio and the HuffPost. IBM describes us as an "Uber for Volunteering". Our mission is to create exactly that: Uber for volunteering on a national scale - making it easier for vetted volunteers to give help, whilst making it fast and safe for people and organisations to receive help. Today, onHand matches vetted volunteers with older adults and vulnerable people who need help with simple tasks such as shopping, medicine collection/drop offs, urgent errands and other essentials. We have been able to tap into demand to help from the under-served corporate volunteer market to help address one of society's most pressing issues, at a fraction of the cost of today's solutions and when NHS resources are most strained. Prior to COVID-19, onHand's volunteer matching platform had established itself as a disruptor to the care industry, using tech to simplify the way volunteers and older adults connect. The response to our platform has been applauded by various industry experts such as the National Innovation Centre for Ageing and across the media. Our concept has been tested and proven in London by thousands of users including by the London Boroughs of Hammersmith & Fulham and Lambeth, who commissioned onHand to help their residents in light of the COVID-19 outbreak to great success and we have now begun pilots in further cities. As an innovative yet small team, onHand needs investment to scale. Grant funding would allow us to invest in our technology and replicate our successes across the UK. This development will take us from helping 1000's of vulnerable older adults in limited areas to helping 100's of 1000's across the country. In a post COVID-19 world, we hope that onHand can resume providing a larger variety of tasks for older people who need help, including closer contact and in-home support such as light gardening, simple tasks around the house (like changing light-bulbs and taking the bins out) and basic companionship, all with a network of new volunteers who continue to give their time even after COVID-19\. These are the types of services we successfully provided prior to the current crisis - delivering multiple 1000's of hours of help in the last year.

onHand's mission is to create an uber or Airbnb for volunteering on a national scale - making it easier for vetted volunteers to give help, while making it quicker and cheaper for people to receive help. Launched in 2018, onHand matches vetted volunteers with older adults and vulnerable people (including those self-isolating) who need help with simple tasks such as shopping, medicine collection/drop offs, urgent errands and other essentials. By tapping into the sharing economy we can address one of society's most pressing issues, at a fraction of the cost of today's solutions, and when NHS resources are most strained. onHand is already operating successfully in London with positive feedback from both volunteers and older people who have used the service and app. Given this new investment, onHand will be able to launch into new locations starting with Newcastle, in partnership with the National Innovation Centre for Ageing, and with a view to becoming a national service - rolling out to several cities in Q1 2021. We have an ageing population, where 24% will be age 65 or over by 2035. Over half of all people aged 75 and over live alone, and startling research shows that levels of loneliness are increasing. No one should have no one, and onHand helps combat the loneliness epidemic for both older and younger generations. In this time where we have all been told to protect the NHS, onHand does just that - volunteers provide care before professional and national services need to be drafted in. As an innovative yet small team, onHand needs investment to scale and help more people. We want to invest in our technology, and launch a pilot scheme outside of London in Newcastle, with a view to replicate our successes across the UK. This development will take us from helping 100's of vulnerable older adults to enabling help for 10's of 1000's. In a post COVID-19 world, we hope that onHand can resume providing a larger variety of tasks for older people who need help, including closer contact and in-home support such as light gardening and simple tasks around the house (like changing lightbulbs and taking the bins out) plus basic companionship, all with a network of new volunteers who continue to give their time even after COVID-19.
