All optical and radar vehicle navigation systems perform poorly in challenging environments. Calyo has developed a complementary ultrasound-based navigation sensor system that delivers reliable imaging performance when other technologies are impaired. Our 3-D ultrasound-based solution is less affected by varying ambient conditions (e.g. rain, fog, dust), or reflectivity and transparency of the objects to be detected when compared to laser scanners or cameras. This project intends to introduce Calyo's revolutionary "CalyoPulse" sensors into the automotive market, integrated with Baro's next-generation, end-to-end vehicle navigation system - called the "MOD-Brain" - as a safety module required for L5 autonomy. The success of this project will enable both Calyo and Baro to move into the autonomous mobility sectors much more quickly and hence drive growth in the UK economy.
