The vision of the Food Factory of the Future is modern, high quality and energy efficient food manufacturing premises for SME food producers.
The project will define the new standard for food processing drawing on knowledge transfer opportunities from across Europe. The project will provide a far reaching review of the future requirements of food manufacturing and processing.
A model will be developed that defines the core requirements of the Food Factory of The Future in a post Covid environment.
The project seeks to develop a key output technology map for decarbonisation of food manufacturing systems, primarily by investigating ways in which SME food business can share resources and provide opportunities to re-use waste streams and operate in an eco manufacturing environment.
An assessment of future market needs and demands from food producers will be undertaken and proposals made for elements of the supply chain to be reconnected with the development of new horizontal and vertical actors and collaborations.
Indicative designs and operating protocols will be developed in order to establish both likely capital and operational budgets required and return on public investment through economic impact modelling.
A highly experienced multi disciplined team has been brought together by food sector specialists Datrys Ltd. This includes University of Swansea, project managers and The Food and drink Forum Ltd.
