**Public Description** **Project SPARK** will develop a new, more sustainable method for creating hard-wearing protective coatings used across UK manufacturing. The project will design and test the first _jet-based Plasma Electrolytic Oxidation (PEO)_ system, an innovative process that uses a focused jet of electrolyte rather than a large chemical bath. This approach will dramatically reduce the amount of solution and energy needed for coating production, cutting resource use by more than half and lowering both costs and environmental impact. By producing compact, modular coating units, the technology will make it easier for small and medium-sized manufacturers to use advanced ceramic coatings that improve product durability and performance. Over a short feasibility study, UCR Integrations will build and validate a working prototype, laying the groundwork for a new generation of low-energy, low-waste coating systems that support clean and resilient UK manufacturing.
