Betwixt is an evidence-informed app that improves wellbeing and promotes mental resilience to stress and depression through a novel interactive experience. Using an immersive, multisensory story and conversational intelligence, Betwixt takes users on a vivid fictional journey that allows them to approach challenges in a safe, friendly and creative way, while learning to express and make sense of their emotions, self-reflect constructively and take new, more adaptive perspectives on distressing situations. What makes Betwixt innovative is its unique fusion of self-care and entertainment, which allows us to deliver evidence-based therapeutics packaged into a compelling, personalised and engaging user experience. By doing this, we're harnessing the enormous potential of digital technology to reach people at the earliest point of need, helping to prevent stressors from turning into clinical conditions and empowering users to improve their wellbeing in a self-driven way. Crucially, our approach is a step change from existing solutions, the vast majority of which suffer from two key issues: first, they lack high-quality evidence to show actual efficacy; and second, they fail to sustainably engage users, severely limiting their utility for self-management. By contrast, Betwixt is being developed in a user-first and experience-first fashion, through interdisciplinary collaborations that allow us to marry effectiveness with engagement. With this current project, we're seeking to build on the work we've already done in order to catalyse further product innovation and bring Betwixt closer to market.
