Our project aims to significantly enhance the electric vehicle (EV) charging experience by developing a smartphone and web-based app that helps drivers make better-informed decisions about where to charge their vehicles. This app provides comprehensive information on charging locations and offers personalised recommendations based on drivers' preferences and needs. One of the unique aspects of our solution is its focus on driving traffic away from crowded main road charge points to lesser-known locations. Our goal is to support local businesses by bringing more foot traffic to areas near charge points. By showcasing the amenities available in these locations, we aim to boost local economies and contribute to the "leveling up" agenda. Our project will collaborate closely with local communities in North-East England to ensure the app meets their specific needs. We will work with businesses to understand their requirements and how best to support them via the app. This engagement will ensure the app is well-tailored to benefit drivers and local businesses. The expected outcome of our project is twofold. Firstly, it will improve driver confidence in using charge points and amenities in North East England, encouraging more drivers to choose or hire electric vehicles for their journeys. Secondly, it will provide local businesses with increased visibility and customer engagement, fostering economic growth in less-developed areas of England. By enhancing the overall charging experience and supporting local communities, our project aims to substantially impact the adoption of electric vehicles and the development of sustainable transportation solutions.
