The PSAQ pin badge utilises nanotechnology and the exceptional properties of Graphene to miniaturise a highly sensitive gas sensor into a wearable badge. Our CEO's journey began at 14 when she won the individual prize in the UK Government's Youth Industrial Strategy competition and the UK Space Agency's SatelLife competition in 2020\. She used that as momentum and funding towards more product development. Since then, PSAQ has gained support and resources from various organisations such as Bridging the Gap accelerator programme with Graphene at the University of Manchester, the Galileo Masters incubator programme in partnership with the University of Nottingham, and mentors and networks connected to the UK and European Space Agencies. PSAQ comprises two vital technological components: the pin badge, which collects air quality data within 20cm of a person's location, and a complementary mobile app to show that data meaningfully. Therefore, the PSAQ service provides an end-to-end air quality monitoring solution that allows everyone to understand the air around them. Furthermore, by wearing the pin badge and using the complementary app, everyone can use that information to make changes to their day-to-day routines, such as walking to school or cycling for leisure, based on the data available to show current pollution exposure levels. To summarise, the PSAQ pin badge is a revolutionary wearable device that provides hyperlocal air quality data with accuracy and convenience. Graphene makes the pin badge lightweight and durable, making it comfortable for continuous wear. The mobile app also provides insights for people to identify real-time pollution hotspots and make the changes needed to protect their health.
