Rapid Axle Concept Evolution (RACE) Software have developed a cloud based multibody simulation (MBS) platform for the design of suspension/chassis systems. The innovative cloud architecture is a world first for multibody analysis in any field. The MBS platform offers a rapid suspension design tool at a fraction of the cost and complexity of incumbents. The unique architecture can also be extended to MBS in other sectors such as aerospace, manufacturing and health care. At RACE Software, we understand that the areas of MBS and suspension design/simulation are highly technical fields. They present a significant learning curve that acts as a barrier to entry for newcomers to these fields. We consider 3D visualisation the next pivotal step to make our simulation platform more accessible to a wider audience. Currently the platform offers interactive 3D visualisation of the suspension system during the data input phase. The user can interact with the 3D suspension image as they would in any modern Computer-Aided-Design (CAD) package. This was Stage 1 of our mission to bring 3D visualisation to the RACE platform. The need for this development came on the back of feedback from customers that a lack of 3D visualisation presented a challenge to inexperienced users. Stage 2 of our 3D visualisation mission will be developed as part of this project. It will feature the following: * 3D animation of the multibody simulation results allowing the user to see the motion of the suspension system as displacement and load inputs are applied. This lowers barriers to entry into the technical MBS and suspension design fields by helping users to visualise how the suspension operates. It will also be a powerful educational tool to develop the next generation of automotive suspension design engineers and promotes inclusion, learning and understanding for students and graduates from a diverse range of technical backgrounds. * Visual results comparisons between multiple simulations. This feature will allow users to overlay the results of multiple simulations. This will be a key feature during the design iteration phase of suspension development. It will help users to understand how the input changes they make influence the overall suspension performance. The RACE Software team have developed a proof of concept for the 3D animation of results which is currently being used for marketing purposes. This project will continue this work to ensure that Stage 2 of our 3D visualisation mission can be rolled out to the RACE platform.
