The global African fashion market has been experiencing significant growth in recent years, fueled by a growing interest in African-inspired designs and textiles. The rise of social media and e-commerce platforms has allowed African designers and brands to reach a global audience, driving the popularity of African fashion worldwide. However, traditional Nigerian fabrics such as Ankara and Aso-oke are known for their vibrant colors and intricate designs. However, the process of dyeing these fabrics often involves the use of harmful chemicals that can pollute the environment and pose a threat to the health of textile workers. Our innovation involves the use of Artificial Intelligence technology to digitally conceptualize African Prints, accompanied by digital printing to provide a more sustainable and eco-friendly option in textile production for designers globally. Growing up as a British - Nigerian in London, I also recognised that there were limited opportunities for cultural fashion to be widely represented in the western Fashion Industry. I therefore hope that this innovation will also empower aspiring designers to incorporate culture and heritage into their design processes, which help individuals living in the diaspora connect to their roots.
