Public Funding for Careloop Health Ltd

Postnatal depression (PND) affects 17% of mothers and 9% of fathers yet today around 50% of cases go undetected and untreated, with extremely high consequences for parents, babies and their extended families. Universal screening using the CareLoop App effectively assesses a parent's well-being and identifies signs of PND for early intervention. Earlier intervention prevents escalation and promotes faster recovery. Already proven to be as effective as in-person screening in a proof-of-concept trial, the CareLoop App is a highly scalable way to reach new mothers and fathers/partners. In this project we are seeking to address the health inequalities that result from low literacy levels. Working with experts in rich media, we will deliver effective screening in accessible formats and multiple languages, bringing effective PND screening to a wider audience, benefiting parents, their babies, extended families and the wider society. CareLoop Health is a new start up and a spin-out of the University of Manchester. The business launched in 2022 to bring the results of from 10 years of academic research to the health sector, making it available to mental health trusts in the UK and ultimately health care providers across the world. Our mission is to transform mental healthcare using software to predict problems, prevent escalation and personalise care to individual need.
