ChipFlow is a UK semiconductor SME with a core project team of Rob Taylor (CEO), Tomi Rantakari (COO/Senior General Manager) and Staf Verhaegen (CTO).
Past and future technological developments are supported by advancements in electronics. This growing market requires integrated circuit (IC) solutions that can deliver flexible, adaptable and cost-effective alternatives to the current expensive proprietary options. The design and manufacture of plastic ICs have the potential to meet these needs and give SMEs greater access to technology innovations to increase efficiency. Design and manufacture of plastic IC can also contribute to much-needed reductions in electronic, plastic and other forms of waste and help build a circular economy.
ChipFlow is developing a PaaS combining plastic IC design and manufacturing processes with maximum use of open-source components/IP. This innovation will enable a 10x cost reduction when compared to competitors' proprietary silicon solutions. ChipFlow will provide an optimised solution for the plastic IC manufacturing process and give SME customers the chance to design their own IC with reduced costs and design time.
The ChipFlow platform will provide a critical, missing piece to plastic IC foundries by offering bespoke designs that are cheaper and faster. Beyond the direct economic benefits, plastic IC will enable significant business benefits, including new ways to reduce and eliminate waste. ChipFlow's initial focus on the healthcare and logistics sectors will deliver solutions to improve people's health and reduce plastic waste. ChipFlow also offers a global proposition in a market where the UK does not currently have a footing.
