The fashion sector and how consumers interact with it needs re-setting as it is not sustainable. There is clearly an urgent need for a new economic model for fashion whilst also enhancing the positive benefits that fashion designers have on the economy and the creative sector. One of the key challenges is how to increase the life of a garment and move away from fast consumption of fashion to longer term transferrable and authenticated ownership of an asset. Normally the lifespan of eveningwear is a maximum 4/5 times that it is worn. In order to overcome these challenges, garments need to be digitally linked to their certified carbon footprint and have a mechanism where ownership can be traded and transferred in a trusted manner, whilst also ensuring their authenticity and origin is fully traceable. This will allow our garments to remain in use for longer and help consumers make informed purchasing decisions. This project will help Temperley develop a platform to facilitate frictionless and managed resale of our garments via a peer-to-peer application on our website and transfer of a Token via Blockchain to the new owner. This will incentivize resale of the products to activate circularity in this sector.
