Public Funding for Electric Airshows Limited

LightBox Europe is an innovative project focusing on Drone Light Shows and their usability. The project looks to deploy new net zero innovative technologies that enable Drone Light Shows to be flown from locations that previously did not permit such flights. We are blending net zero technological innovation with creative industries such that the canvas that is the night sky may be utilised across the UK. Project LightBox Europe enables Electric Airshows to lead the UK and the Drone Light Show industry in the deployment of immersive Drone Light Show aerial media, allowing both the company and the UK creative industry to thrive in this unique market. By enabling more locations to fly Drone Light Shows and working across Europe to certify the technology for flight, we are driving the UK forward in this new media performance space. The project builds on our successful trials of the Damoda V3 Drone Light Show unit, which takes off and lands inside its own case. We have now received CAA regulatory approvals to operate up to 1000 of these drone units in UK Airspace. For LightBox Europe we now seek to undertake the regulatory approvals work with the European Aviation Safety Authority to enable our technologies to fly on mainland Europe. The project looks to undertake a gap analysis between our existing Operating Safety Case and the required SORA (Specific Operations Risk Assessment) document suite that the European Aviation Safety Authority require to facilitate our Drone Light Show works in European Union countries. This is a major step forward for our company and we already have enquiries for Drone Light Shows in Finland, Poland and Ireland using the new Damoda V3 units. What makes this project innovative is the use of mass carbon net zero swarming technology, that incorporates cameras that can understand fiducial markings and thus land back in their storage crates by themselves. This reduces the operation time for a Drone Swarm to set up and deploy considerably and reduces the labour costs regarding swarm set-up. Electric Airshows Limited are the European representative for Damoda, who manufacture the V3 swarm drone unit and as such this is an opportunity for the UK to lead the way in the roll out of self aware, net zero, swarming drone technology. We therefore apply to the Net Zero Pre-Commercialisation Support Fund, to help us with regards regulatory support to enable exports for the company.

The technicalities of flying Drone Light Shows in UK airspace is complex and is controlled by the UK Civil Aviation Authority as prescribed in Civil Air Publication CAP722E. As new technical art-forms come into being, they can be hampered by regulatory bodies. This project aims to resolve some of the technical issues and drive forward regulatory approvals for a step change in the manner that Drone Light Shows operate. The project deploys new innovative technologies that enables Drone Light Shows to be flown from locations that previously did not permit such flights.
