Jampa's, the University of Nottingham's and Canadian food manufacturer,Tartistes, will embark on a project that will see them launch a range of game-changing, plant-based products. Jampa's has already launched a range of products focused on delivering amazing taste and texture, often missing from PBMA's, with a focus on clean, 100% natural ingredient, (artificial additive-free), since their launch in June 2023\.
With classically trained chef at the helm along with an experienced commercial team these products will continue to evolve on a flavour and texture basis, but now with a uniquely improved nutritional profile that will match or better that found in animal-based and current PBMA's.
The western diet is short in many essential nutrients, vitamins and minerals including; fibre, zinc, potassium, iron, calcium, iodine, Vitamin B12, Vitamin D, Vitamin A, Vitamin C, and Magnesium. The Jampa's range will contain a complete protein structure, usually reserved for meat products as well as a full range of essential nutrients, vitamins and minerals along with extra fibre.
This carefully crafted micro and macro nutrient balance, developed through a partnership with The UoN Food Science Department, will undergo rigorous research and testing to also ensure human absorption - a crucial factor often overlooked in nutrient enhanced food.
This nutrient dense range of products, unique to Jampa's, will also offer a significant fibre boost. A national diet and nutrition survey conducted by Public Health England, (2022), found 90% of adults do not eat enough fibre. Given the fact that eating fibre can reduce your risk of heart disease, type 2 diabetes, bowel cancer and stroke, as well as improving blood pressure and cholesterol levels, this is no mean health feat. And all this while offering a taste and texture eating experience at least equal to their meat-based alternatives.
As a further part off the project, the Jampa's led consortium will also be developing dehydrated versions of their plant-based beef. This will offer the opportunity for food service to buy completely ambient products without any need for refrigeration or freezing, either through transport or storage. At a time where food waste is both exceedingly expensive and environmentally damaging, creating truly tasty, nutrient rich, clean (artificial additive-free) ambient products will be a huge boost to the hospitality industry.
Through working with Tartistes, Jampa's Canadian production partner, Jampas will launch in Canada and the USA - a market five and a half times larger than the UK market
